Tantra Homage 2016
In the mysterious abstract Tantric art from Rajasthan, practitioners render deities simply as forms. The practice of making the art is considered to be a meditation in which the artist melds with the divine. I discovered an amazing book on the subject, Tantra Song, and was so moved by the art I saw that I was inspired to sit down and make my own meditative art. For 30 days I painted whatever came to me in the moment. Mine is a very Western art but I appreciate what the Tantra painters were doing and feel too that art is a spiritual practice.
