Upcoming Workshops

New classes are coming in 2022! The first is a weekend art retreat through Concord Art here in Massachusetts. All classes are online for now. More classes will be added as we design and schedule, so please check back! Working together online has turned out to be convenient and energizing. Drawing together builds great creative energy. And we have some laughs! You can see current and ongoing offerings and a little past fun below.

Drawing Life at Home

3-day Weekend Art Retreat with Concord Art (www.concordart.org):

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, January 28th—30th    10 am—1 pm EST

In this live ZOOM class, we’ll jumpstart the new year by drawing life at home—our rooms, what we eat, our books, art supplies, clothes. All the things that tell the story of our lives in this moment. We’ll draw in fresh, experimental ways with crayons, colored pencils, brush and paint. Our goal is to find our own creative groove and build a vital art practice. The class is limited to 12 and we’ll have the chance to share our work and chat about it.

Ongoing Video Classes with Carla Sonheim Presents:

The following two 6-week classes were produced by Carla and Steve Sonheim and are available for self-study at any time. In each workshop we explore drawing in sketchbooks in order to hone skills and get ideas for the art we want to make. We also explore how to make art an uplifting practice.

BOOKFUL of Inspiration

4-Week Class with Bari Zaki of Bari Zaki Studio (Chicago):

Saturdays, October 30th, November 6th, 13th + 20th, 2021         11 am—1 pm EST

In this live ZOOM workshop, we'll make and fill an accordion book with abstract patterns and drawn icons to illuminate words of inspiration of our own choosing. Bari will lead us in the first week in making a beautiful, handmade accordion book with Stonehenge paper. Bari prepares bookmaking kits for all participants and everyone can choose from a selection of gorgeous cover papers. And this time, she is including a second kit free so you can make an additional book after our workshop. In the next 3 weeks, I'll lead us in creating patterned images both bold and subtle to fill our books. We'll also play with some handwritten text. Participants will come away with a beautiful book of inspiration. This is our fifth BOOKFUL workshops! Our workshops are fun and relaxing. All levels of artists are welcome.
